Position Summary

The System Support Specialist (SSS) provides hands-on IT support across desktop and network environments within a secure federal setting. This includes first- and second-level technical assistance, system configuration, diagnostics, and training end-users in DOJ and Microsoft applications. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with excellent customer service skills to ensure optimal operation of hardware, software, and network systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide first- and second-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person.

  • Install, configure, and test PC hardware, operating systems, printers, and standard applications.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to operating systems, network connectivity, and peripheral devices.

  • Maintain DOJ office automation tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Support help desk operations, track service requests, and ensure timely resolution.

  • Conduct diagnostics and coordinate necessary equipment repairs.

  • Train users on system functionality, software applications, and basic IT operations.

  • Participate in upgrade planning, system rollouts, and configuration evaluations.

  • Ensure professional customer service and adherence to IT best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with PC installation, repair, and troubleshooting in LAN environments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of local area networks, operating systems, and peripheral support.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; professional phone presence.

  • Experience in government, DOJ, or litigation support environments (preferred).

  • Familiarity with DOJ systems or litigation support tools (highly desirable).

  • Prior training or teaching experience with software applications is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant certifications (A+, Network+) are a plus.
