Position Summary
The General Clerk provides front-desk coverage and a wide range of clerical and administrative support to the litigation team within the U.S. Attorney’s Office. This role demands professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information while performing operational tasks in a secure and structured government environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and callers; manage reception and switchboard duties.
Monitor and control facility access, including surveillance via CCTV and visitor debriefing.
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages.
Assist with arrest notifications and coordinate with Legal Assistants and AUSAs.
Prepare travel itineraries for staff and witnesses.
Maintain and update court docket calendars and internal schedules.
Open and close cases in Caseview; organize and maintain physical case files.
File appeals and criminal case documents following legal protocols.
Support annual records inventory, including submission of excess property.
Maintain logs for GOV vehicles, Wex Card receipts, mileage, fuel records, and key control.
Prepare professional written materials using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Required Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential records with accuracy and discretion.
Experience with phone systems, scheduling, document filing, and general clerical support.
Prior experience in legal or government office environments is preferred.
Capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
